Rascal Wants To Vote Too!

With the US presidential campaign coming to its climax today, I cannot help but wonder why no one bothered to ask us who we want to vote for. For the record, Rascal is a Barrack Obama supporter. Why? For one, Rascal is a black supporter. (I’m half black labrador, half husky remember?)

Okay, back to serious matter. I came across this article about this 109-year-old lady was the daughter of a man born into slavery. Now, I have mean no offense to any black member but I can see several smilarities between the challenges faced by the black community and the animal community. We are both born into something we have no choice in. And when people sit back and give in to the situation, it was always remain status quo. In the face of opposition, the black community rallied together, with compassionate white people and raised their voices against the inequality and atrocities the black community is being subjected to.

Since the dawn of time, animals has always been a cattle for humans. Abused, neglected, bullied. Animals and pets have been at the mercy of humans. Right now, the voice for the four-legged have been escalating. And as long as there is a voice speaking out for us, there is a chance of things improving.

Back to elections. Children are very much affected by their environment and the people around them. Especially the people around them. During Halloween, this cranky old lady refused to give candies to kids who belong to families supporting Obama. Why spoil a perfectly good festival by bringing adult worries into children’s world? And by doing this, will kids start to have negative feelings for their new president?

It is important to cast your vote. If I have the chance, I will definitely vote for the MP that looks out for the furry ones. How bad can an animal-lover be? *Grin* Yes, I am biased. But which one of you isn’t?

On a totally nonsensical note:

Your dog can tell a lot about your voting patterns too.

A questionnaire developed by Haidt found that liberals were more likely to get a dog that was “independent-minded and relates to its owner as a friend and equal”. Conservatives, he found, preferred dogs that were “extremely loyal to its home and family, and doesn’t warm up quickly to strangers.”
